While we realize the current connotation of the phrase Social Justice Warrior, some of us have decided that fighting (and gaming) for social justice is not a bad thing. While people may be reductive in their perception of what we, and other feminists, around the interwebs do in our critique and production of various media (including games) we are not allowing ourselves to be reduced and are claiming “Social Justice Warrior/Gamer” as our own. You gotta take your fun where you can! Game On, my friends!

It’s not so much that specific set of words but the actions of certain people who call themselves SJWs. In the week or so that I started visiting here I haven’t seen any examples of why SJWs have gotten a bad name. You guys are okay and that’s why I still interact here.
But you should probably look up the actions of people who call themselves SJWs and ideology aside – pulled some stunts. It marred the name. If you can take the term and clean the name it would be great if it started here. Good luck.
There are always people who do questionable things on all fronts. I have seen a number of folks labeled as femi-Nazis and the like simply because they call themselves feminists (ourselves included). It’s not as visible here because we actively choose not to publish comments from folks who come here specifically to troll and who really don’t want to have a conversation of any kind.
It’s a choice that we made early on because negativity does nothing to further our cause as feminists and gamers. We recognize the limitations of games (and every medium), but we still love games (and the community that we build around games) a lot. That love is what keeps us here looking to make the gaming community stronger and a more welcoming place for all folks.
